Detoxing from alcohol and opiate addiction can be incredibly painful, both physically and mentally. Managing withdrawal symptoms carefully is key to successful recovery. More recently, in-home detox has become a realistic option for many patients when monitored by a trained medical professional. In this blog, we’ll take a closer look at some of the benefits of at-home detox.
Opiate recovery in the comfort of your own home
IV Elements offers several options for in-home detox, including NAD therapy and the ST Genesis for opiate recovery. Both NAD for detox and the ST Genesis device allow patients to detox comfortably at home.
How long is a detox program?
Our BR+ NAD for detox IV therapy options include a six-day program, a 10-day program and a 15-day program. Each program is designed with different circumstances in mind, and aren’t just for detoxing.
- Six-day program: For alcohol detox, chronic fatigue syndrome, Parkinson’s disease and Lyme disease
- 10-day program: For opiate addiction recovery
- 15-day program: For benzo, methadone and suboxone detox
For ST Genesis users, once the device is fitted behind the ear, it stays in place for five days before being removed.
A detox program with privacy
Having the privacy of an in-home detox program can prevent distractions and help avoid the potential negative stigma associated with rehab centers.
In-home detox: A cost-effective option
Inpatient rehab centers can range from $6,000 to $60,000 and take anywhere from 30 to 90 days.1
While at-home detox options are still expensive, ranging from about $5,000 to $17,000, they can take a fraction of the time, which can mean less time missing work.
A 2018 study published in Australian Prescriber concluded that there are many benefits to at-home detox, specifically for alcohol.2
“Supporting patients through home detox is proven to be safe, successful and cost-effective,” the study said. “The patient-centred, confidential and discreet location of general practice makes it extremely accessible and provides a safe and non-judgemental environment.”
