Can NAD Therapy Help With Fertility?

If you’re on a fertility journey, you’ve probably been told to optimize everything — sleep, diet, stress, supplements. But there’s one option some couples explore as part of preconception planning that you may not have heard about: NAD IV therapy.

In NAD IV therapy for fertility, a healthcare professional uses an IV to increase your NAD levels. NAD (or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a natural coenzyme that’s essential for energy production, cell communication, and DNA repair.

Higher NAD levels may support fertility by influencing pregnancy-related factors like egg quality, hormones, and metabolism. Here’s what you should know about this emerging support option and how you can get NAD therapy for fertility in NJ, NYC, or Philadelphia.

How can NAD therapy help with fertility?

NAD therapy may support fertility by influencing five cellular factors — egg quality, hormones and metabolism, cellular repair, inflammation, and overall health.

Egg quality

Egg cells rely on mitochondria (tiny structures within cells known as “the powerhouses of the cells”) for energy. As you get older and your NAD levels decline, mitochondria can become less efficient. The quality of your eggs may drop as a result, making it harder to get pregnant. Animal studies suggest NAD repletion may support mitochondrial function and cellular repair in eggs, which could potentially strengthen egg quality and support cellular factors involved in reproductive aging. However, human research is still emerging.

Hormones and metabolism

When it comes to NAD and reproductive health, hormones could play an important role. Though more studies are needed, some researchers think that NAD may help regulate hormones that induce ovulation. One possible reason for this is that excessive oxidative stress can impair hormone-producing cells in the ovaries. By reducing oxidative stress and supporting cellular repair and mitochondrial function, NAD therapy may help those hormone-producing cells stay healthy and functional.

NAD can also support metabolic balance, which is particularly important for people with conditions like PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Scientists are currently studying whether NAD therapy may support metabolic and inflammatory factors relevant to PCOS-related fertility challenges.

Cellular repair

Like all cells, reproductive cells are vulnerable to damage, which could reduce your fertility over time. NAD therapy can support the activity of sirtuins, a group of proteins that help regulate DNA repair and stress responses. These proteins may play a role in protecting the health of your reproductive cells by helping to reduce oxidative stress, repair DNA damage, and support cellular survival.

Inflammation

NAD therapy could also support preconception planning by reducing inflammation. Inflammation can negatively affect fertility by interfering with:

  • ovulation
  • egg quality
  • fallopian tubes
  • uterine environment
  • sperm production and quality

Healthy NAD levels promote normal immune and inflammatory regulation by supporting sirtuin activity and cellular health. Also, although more research is needed, some scientists think that NAD therapy could potentially help improve fertility for people with endometriosis, as the condition involves inflammation and oxidative stress.

Other health factors

NAD+ therapy may also support your fertility by improving other aspects of your health, such as your energy and sleep quality.

Can my partner and I both get NAD therapy as part of preconception planning?

Yes. Many clinics offer NAD therapy for men’s fertility since NAD is important for sperm production and function. That’s because NAD supports mitochondria and DNA repair and reduces oxidative stress. While researchers have not confirmed whether NAD therapy can improve sperm quality, it’s a potential benefit that could support your fertility journey. That’s why many couples choose to pursue NAD therapy for sperm quality and egg quality at the same time.

How long before trying to conceive should I start NAD therapy?

Most people should start NAD therapy for fertility at least 2 to 3 months before trying to conceive. In general, this strategy allows enough time for the benefits of NAD therapy (such as improved DNA repair and reduced oxidative stress) to meaningfully affect egg cells, sperm cells, and overall reproductive health. You can also talk to your doctor for a more personalized recommendation.

Should I stop NAD therapy when actively trying to conceive?

Yes, you should generally stop NAD therapy when trying to conceive, unless your doctor advises otherwise. That’s because studies have not determined if NAD therapy is safe during pregnancy. Thus, it’s safest to avoid the therapy when you have a chance of becoming pregnant.

Can I combine NAD therapy with IVF or other fertility treatments?

While many clinics offer NAD therapy for IVF support, you should always talk to your doctor before combining NAD therapy with fertility treatments like IVF. Researchers have not determined whether NAD therapy could make fertility treatments unsafe. As explained above, NAD impacts cell metabolism and DNA repair, and we’re not sure how these effects might influence the fertilization process during IVF or other treatments.

Some doctors might allow you to get NAD therapy before starting IVF. But once IVF stimulation begins, it’s generally recommended that you avoid IV therapies unless medically necessary.

FAQ

Is NAD IV therapy safe during pregnancy?

Studies have not determined whether NAD IV therapy is safe during pregnancy. That’s why most clinicians recommend stopping the therapy once you begin trying to conceive.

Does NAD therapy help with PCOS or advanced maternal age?

While more studies are needed, NAD therapy may potentially help people facing PCOS or advanced maternal age improve their fertility due to its effects on egg quality, hormones, metabolism, inflammation, cellular repair, and overall health. The therapy’s impact on metabolic balance may be especially beneficial for people with PCOS.

Can men get NAD therapy for fertility support?

Yes. Though research is ongoing, some scientists think there might be a link between NAD therapy and improved sperm quality, as NAD can support reproductive cell health.

Is mobile NAD therapy safe for preconception planning?

In general, yes. Mobile NAD therapy can be a safe, convenient, and comfortable way to support your preconception planning. However, you should always consult your doctor before beginning any IV therapy.

How much does preconception NAD therapy in NJ cost?

The cost of in-lounge and in-home NAD preconception support in NJ depends on the clinic. You can explore IV Elements’ NAD therapy pricing here.

🌿 Story time with our nurse: A 40-year-old client came in struggling with extreme fatigue, brain fog, weakness, and numbness in her hands and feet. After running functional labs, we discovered high arsenic levels—signs of arsenic poisoning. With her active gardening lifestyle, exposure had accumulated over time. Our treatment plan included IV chelation therapy with disodium EDTA, helping to safely remove toxins and restore energy, clarity, and overall wellness.
Early detection of arsenic poisoning is key to recovery. Addressing arsenic poisoning with proper lab testing and treatment can dramatically improve quality of life.
